Religion in the World of Arl
Each nation may follow one or more deities, the deities enjoy devotion but expect it to be proven. Each deity delights in a different form of devotion, an imitation of what they did while mortal or the morals and objectives that they stand for now. Objectives
Each deity has a Major, Minor and Negative objective. Achieving the Major objective earns you 3 favour points that turn, the minor earns 1 and the Negative loses you 2 points. Some deities reward similar things and are easier to follow at the same time while others are mutually exclusive and to please one will anger the other.Rewards
With the favour points that you get you are given a bonus, the more points you have the bigger the bonus. This bonus is applied to all cities with a temple, if you have an expanded temple then the bonus is doubled. Nomads count as having a temple in all groups of at least 50,000 civilians but cannot get the benefits of an expanded temple.Divine intervention
Deities have a lot of power, more as they gain more followers. Though they hoard this power and use it sparingly, when they do use it the results are awesome to behold. Every 5th turn each deity will give their blessing to one of their followers, this blessing may be used one time only and if not used will expire after 5 turns. As each deity gives their blessing to only one of their worshipping nations there is expected to be some competition in achieving their somewhat vague objective. Of course, the upside of only one nation getting the bonus is that they have more power, each nation following the deity boosts the power of the Divine Intervention bonus by 1 point.
