Your nation
Each "team" is a nation, a race, a people, a culture, a country and they are lead by you. You and your seconds. Any orders you issue will be followed as long as you keep the loyalty of your people. A nation consists of the following elements:- A team leader and any seconds
- Army
- Navy
- Spies
- Monsters
- Mages
- Priests
- Lots of unimportant people
Seconds
As already mentioned, each team can have more than one player on the team. Each player beyond the team leader is called a "second" as they are second in command to the leader but still leaders of the nation. The membership within a nation is controlled by the team leader, they must approve any requests to join that nation. Team leaders are also able to remove players from their team anytime they wish, the GMs will only become involved in extreme cases. So far that's never happened. The Chosen Ones
Each player has an in-game representation, a Chosen One. Chosen Ones are the same race as the rest of their nation, changing nation will mean that you change race. Chosen become more powerful over time, achievements and accomplishments boost their power beyond their already superhuman capabilities. If a chosen changes team then they will forget all they learnt on the old team but will keep their experience and superhuman strength. This means that if you leave a team, you are not allowed to share it's secrets or anything not public that you learnt while on that team. This might seem confusing but without it, nobody would trust anybody else and finding teams would be very hard for newer players.
How much stronger?
Lots stronger! They are three times as strong and can literally lift three times the weight of another member of their race. They are much tougher and can sustain wounds such as the loss of a limb and continue fighting, their body itself is not any tougher but their constitution and will to fight is four times as great. Essentially it is just as easy to kill a chosen but incapacitating one is very hard. Likewise, they are smarter and wiser than any of their race, compared with a normal member of their race they will think of something in half the time that the other would. But that's not the best part!
As already mentioned, Chosen improve over time. This improvement is recorded through "experience points", commonly abbreviated to XP. After achieving something, the chosen will gain a new skill that they can choose from this list.
What counts as an achievement?
Lots of things, each achievement gives you 1 or more XP, at higher levels you require more XP to gain a new skill and some achievements give less of a bonus. At level 10 and above you require 2 XP to get a new skill and thus advance a level, at level 20 all achievements count for 1 less XP than normal. It is possible at level 20 and above to achieve something and not get any points for it! Here is a brief list of some of the things that can count as achievements, the fuller list is located here and also has additional information about the achievements.| Minor Achievements | Major achievements | |
|---|---|---|
| Winning a battle by a small margin | Winning a battle by a large margin | |
| Killing lots of enemies | Singlehandedly killing an enemy chosen | |
| Leading a successful raid | Taking a city |
You can choose your skills whenever you like, simply contact a GM and get them to sort it out. You don't need to wait for orders time to do this. Note that unused skills will stay on your character as long as you play, you don't need to spend it right away at all. If you achieve enough you can gain several skills in one turn.
Respending
What happens if you've built up 20 skills and dislike the way you've allocated them? You are currently the best with a sword but have decided you'd rather be the best at shooting arrows at people. The good news is that re-spending the points is free! It is a three turn process. In the first turn you must write orders saying how many points are being freed up. The next turns orders you do nothing and the turn after that, you can spend the points via the orders or via a GM any time after the orders deadline. You may respend as many or as few of your points as you wish.Death
At some point, your chosen will die. The good news is that this is (probably) not permanent. If your deity likes you enough they will bring you back to life. They will do this exactly a year after you died. You will take a week to return to full health but after that you're fine. You can also be resurrected by the relevant spell from the Life spell list. When you do die, you lose your 2 most recently acquired points of experience, you can never go below 0 XP. If you are slain by a Chosen One 5 or more levels higher or by any other singularly powerful entity then you then you only lose 1 point.
Teifion: Is this what I actually sound like?
