Beasts, monsters and creatures

There are many beasts and creatures within the World of Arl and you can catch them! The beasts are split into 4 main categories; ridden, driven, large and awesome. Ridden beasts are things about the size of a horse and perfect for riding. Driven creatures are things with the mind of a dog, your drive them before you and set them on your enemy. Large creatures are the size of Elephants and how you use them depends on what they do. Awesome creatures are also not all of one role but are awesome and generally harder to find and catch.

Almost all beast names are taken from their Cayim Amiy names, some were used by the Cayim Amiy but are thought to have been used by some other race before we arrived.

Catching beasts

Firstly you must catch your beasts, you must go out to their natural habitat, find some, catch some and bring some back alive. It's not as hard as it sounds, some nets and a simple plan will catch most of the beasts but the better, cooler and bigger ones will require more. All beasts will eat, some of them will eat a lot so you must think carefully before simply running out and catching all the beasts you can. Beasts kept in captivity do not reproduce.

So how do I use them?

Incorporating them into your army is very simple, you simply add them to a unit. Here are three Aggregate entries.

Vizzig cavalry
They are Spiral guard mounted on Vizzig.
Juggernaughts
Fidwy are added to unit of Troopers at a ratio of 1 Fidwy to 10 Troopers.
Wolverines
Qenki wolves are added to a unit of Fighters [melee] at a ratio of 1 Qenki wolf to 5 Fighters.

No cost need be worked out, your are limited in most cases only by the number of beasts you have. In the above example of the Vizzig cavalry you must obviously have enough Spiral guard to ride the Vizzig you have.

What about the odd ones out?

Yes, what about things like the Murtnink or the Semyrid? Well, the Murtnink is smart enough to be used as an assassin and generally it'd be a waste to use it with the army. Simply give orders to use it as you see fit. Things such as the Semyrid however can be used as a mount for cool people like yourself. They're impressive and with a Chosen riding one they become even moreso.
